Blue tooth. How can I get it to work?

Before we start check list:

Make sure your computer is Bluetooth capable.
Make sure you have it enabled (Check for a Bluetooth switch/button specially in laptops)
NOTE: Just having a Bluetooth switch/button does not necessarily mean your computer is Bluetooth capable (It could be Bluetooth ready). Please check with the manufacturer of your computer.
Is the drivers installed correctly. You will see or next to your clock .
Your computer should have Service Pack 2 installed. (Most Windows XP computers have Service Pack 2 installed)

Means you have a Bluetooth adapter installed (The physical adapter).
Means you have the driver installed (The software).

Another place to check for Bluetooth is on your Desktop and Control Panel.

Going beyond this point means you located Bluetooth on your computer and you have next to your clock.
 

 

I have a Bluetooth phone, how can I send files from it?

If you have a camera phone, at some point you will need to send these pictures to your computer. Bluetooth and IR (InfraRed) are two popular options. IR is becoming less and less popular so we will explain Bluetooth.
1. Right-Click on the icon next to the clock. You will see this menu.

  
2. From the above menu, click on the Receive a File:

  

3. The window below will open:

  

4. Your computer is waiting for the file. Send the file and you will see this progress window:

  

5. Once the transfer is complete, you will be prompted for the location where you want your file saved and you will see this window:

  

6. Once you click , the file will be saved to the location you selected and you will see the following  confirmation window:

  

7. Click on to close the window.


How can I send a file to my Bluetooth device?

It is easier and faster to send files if your Bluetooth device is already detected and listed among your Bluetooth devices (See adding Bluetooth device below)

1. One of the most popular files to transfer to your Bluetooth devices are pictures. Save the picture then open the folder where the picture is located.

2. Right-click on the file you wish to transfer then Send To then Bluetooth device. See the following window:

  

3. Once you click on Bluetooth device you should see the following window:

  

If the device in the Send to field is not correct, click on . This will cause the computer to search for Bluetooth devices and you will see the following window:

  

Then the Bluetooth devices found will be listed. You will see the following window:

  

In this case I selected Nokia 6620. Once you select the device you want to send the file to, the button will become available. Click to continue.

You will go back to the following window:

  

 Notice how the device changed from Motorola Phone to Nokia 6620 because of my selection. Make sure you do not select Use a passkey. Click . Your phone may ask you if it is ok to accept the file, press Yes or Accept on your phone then you will see the progress window which will look like:

  

 Once the transfer complete, you will see the following window:

  

  Click to close the window.
 


How can I add a Bluetooth device to my list?

1. Right-click on next to the clock and choose Add a Bluetooth Device

  

2. You will see the following window:

  
 
Make sure My device is set up and ready to be found is checked then click . Your computer will start searching and you will see this window:

  

3. Once your computer is done searching, It will list all the new devices found. It will list the old devices as well if there is any.

  

4. Click on the New Device you would like to add then click . This will take you to this window:

  

NOTE: Please refer to your device's manual for instruction on which option you should take. In this example we will choose Choose a passkey for me.

Once you press , you will see the following window:

  

Then my Bluetooth device (My phone in this case) will prompt me for the key. After I enter it correctly it will install the new Bluetooth device and I will see this window:

  

Just click to close this window.
